Impact of Energy Internet on Green Economic Growth in the Provinces of Iran: An Approach of Spatial Econometric

Abstract

In recent decades, due to the increasing negative effects of economic growth on the environment quality, green economic growth has become the most important goal of all countries in the world. Accordingly, this study aims to investigate the impact of energy internet on green economic growth and the role of of digital economy in accelerating this influence in the provinces of Iran during the period of 1385-1401 the approach of Spatial Durbin Model. According to the results, the spatial dependence between provinces is confirmed. It means that green economic growth of the provinces is affected by the conditions of the neighboring provinces. Moreover, the findings show that energy internet has a positive and significant effect on green economic growth. Moreover, an increase in digital economy makes the role of the internet of energy more prominent in increasing green economic growth. In addition, the variables of urbanization and trade openness have negative and significant effects, and the variables of financial development and education have positive and significant effects on green economic growth. According to the results, it is recommended to policymakers that develop ICT in the field of economics, increase R&D in the field of Energy Internet, reduce the export of environmentally polluting goods and services, promote the financial development of the provinces, increase the living standards in the rural areas, and increase people's awareness about environmental issues.
